A spacecraft (14) is described which uses a magnetic field source (16) to generate a shield magnetic field (18) to protect the spacecraft from energetic charged particles (10). The field may be perturbed to increase the effectiveness of the protection. Injection of material into the shield cavity to enhance the local plasma density may also be used.
La présente invention concerne un engin spatial (14) qui utilise une source de champs magnétique (16) pour produire un champ magnétique de protection (18) destiné à protéger ledit engin spatial de particules chargées énergétiques (10). Ledit champ peut être perturbé, pour permettre l'accroissement de l'efficacité de la protection. Il est également possible d'injecter un matériau dans la cavité de protection afin d'améliorer la densité plasmatique locale.
