Author's views with regard to extent to which superpressure superheated steam can be applied with advantage in ships at present or in near future; comparison of boiler operation on board ship and on land; problem of feedwater; combined systems; it is deemed advisable at present not to go beyond experimental stage, and to use only small part of boiler plant for high pressure steam, reserving rest for what now is considered normal pressure.
