Review of development of brake fluids and properties required to meet current conditions and those likely to be experienced in future; history of constituents of hydraulic fluids and brake fluid specifications; tests carried out by Castrol Ltd led to development of low moisture avidity fluids Castrol B.46/66; they are new class of compound, being based on glycol ether derivatives; of particular significance is capacity of new fluid to recover its high boiling point when humidity is reduced; tabulation of brake fluid vehicle trials and properties of Castrol B.46/66 brake fluid.
