Formulas designed to estimate blade root thickness on basis of assumed acceptable working stresses; values derived by method will approximate thicknesses determined from more detailed considerations; while formulas are not suggested as substitute for more complete analysis, they provide method of assuming suitable stress and solving quickly for blade thickness; accuracy is sufficient to enable preliminary estimates of propeller weights.
