In each of four type C-3, 8900 gross tons cargo vessels being built by Sun Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co, propelling machinery consists of four Busch-Sulzer Diesel marine engines, driving single screw, through electromagnetic couplings and reduction gears; rated power is 8500 shp at 85 rpm, with continuous overload capacity of 10%; operation of all four engines and couplings controlled from central station, simultaneously or selectively.
