Method of engine-airplane matching is presented; scaling equations are described that allow evaluation of airplane performance in terms of airplane size; other methods of evaluation are described; engine selection procedures are demonstrated on two similar multimission strategic bombers; two methods of evaluation illustrate engine-airplane matching technique; in one example, airplane size is fixed and figure of merit is airplane's range capability on several missions; type of mission influences engine cycle selection.
