U S Navy Satellite Navigation System, recently released to commercial applications, provides relatively simple means of position location on worldwide, all-weather basis, with high degree of accuracy required by oceanographic and marine exploration interests; data readout from user's equipment is directly in latitude and longitude, and does not require additional processing or coordinate conversion by means of charts.
