This chapter discusses the application of PEFC technology in auxiliary power units. Unlike PEFCs for propulsion, which operate on hydrogen (see chapters 10 to 14 under “propulsion”), the focus here is given to PEFCs operating on reformate. In addition, system‐relevant aspects such as application concepts, system designs, system efficiencies, and selected results of system tests in the literature are given in this chapter.
