This chapter explores the New Silk Road rail transports between Northern Europe and China. Taking Nordic countries as an exemplary case, the purpose is to investigate the impact of Europe‐China connectivity policies and the contemporary global logistics disruption on the development of Finnish rail routes to China. The chapter reviews the development of different transport modes in Europe‐Asia trade and the policies for Europe‐China connectivity as a framework for the study, and identify a research gap concerning the impact of the policies and global logistics disruption on the rail transports between Finland and China. The idea of developing rail routes through Eurasia is not new, as there had been many efforts to improve the railway connections between Europe and China since the early 1990s. It investigates the impact of European and Chinese connectivity policies and the global logistics crisis on the development of the northern most regular rail transport connections from Europe to China.
