This chapter focuses on reviewing the works of researchers and industry specialists who have proposed, designed, and tested different systems for transmitting real‐time flight data from aircraft to ground stations. The feasibility and implementation of real‐time flight data transmission systems have been explored in various studies. The chapter review and discuss the findings of these studies to provide insights into the possibilities and challenges of real‐time flight data transmission. There is a dearth of wireless Flight Data Recorder (FDR)/Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) systems on the market. The two products are currently available, the Honeywell Connected Recorder and the FLYHT Stream. Despite its immense value, commercial production of wireless FDR/CVR recorders must address key challenges: the cost aspect, industry factor and lack of regulations. For the past two decades, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been urging the installation of video recording equipment in cockpits.
