The role of risk management in complex infrastructure projects from the reinsurer’s standpoint was examined, along with the risk assessment and rating techniques for various engineering disciplines. Risk management includes the implementation of project-specific management and monitoring techniques and contingency planning throughout the entire project duration. Machines, equipment, and building technology undergo rapid development. Insurance plays a vital part in supporting innovation, but an appropriate balance must be attained between retained entrepreneurial risk and transferred trade risk.
