Before trouble-shooting the pipeline, a location and ground must be chosen at which the current will be applied. Finding a location with an independent ground such as a chain link fence helps save time during trouble-shooting and helps verify underground electrical contacts with foreign structures. The current measurements provided by the receiver are reviewed onsite to evaluate the condition of a pipe and/or determine the location of an electrical contact to a foreign structures.
