The need for sealing and bonding materials that can withstand higher engine compartment temperature, more agressive liquids, provide longer services life and permit easier and faster way of processing, has required the use of silicones, even more so since RHONE-POULENC has developed their new activated RTW-1 silicones which have already proved their mastery of all static sealing applications. By mixing a traditional RTV-1 silicones with new activators, RHONE-POULENC has not only improved the silicones overall curing, mechanical and adhesive properties, but also pushed the RTV-1 silicones out of their traditional applications like formed-in-place gasket (FIPG) or cured-in-place gasket (CIPG), to new frontiers like pre-molded gasket (PMG), molded-in-place gasket (MIPG) and even injected-in-place gasket (IIPG).
