This paper addresses how Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) suppliers use CAD/CAM systems. The Direct use of CAD/CAM digital data will reduce the cost of the project, reduce flow time and improve quality. Four suppliers participated with BCA on this project. The objective was to fabricate a five axis machine part at the supplier using CATIA Native data as sole authority for product definition. The complete process, problems/risks, impact on quality, cost and schedules were documented.
