The monolithic solid oxide fuel cell (MSOFC) performance and fabrication are summarized and specific application are highlighted for this promising power source. The feasibility of the MSOFC concept has been proven, and the performance has been dramatically improved. The differences in thermal expansion coefficients and firing shrinkages among the fuel cell materials have been minimized, thus allowing successful fabrication of the MSOFC with few defects. The MSOFC shows excellent promise for development into a practical power source for many applications: from stationary power, to automobile propulsion, to space pulsed power
