France's SPOT remote sensing program is an example of frontier technology serving enterprises. The SPOT satellite produces high-quality data using 10-meter resolution, panchromatic images. Two on-board telescopes equipped with state-of-the-art optics and a novel electronic image sensor assembly can, in large measure take credit for SPOT's success.
