The Air Force communications computer systems architecture provides the standards and guidelines necessary for decentralized management of communications computer systems in an integrated framework capable of meeting Air Force mission requirements. To provide mission oriented guidance, the architecture focuses on survivability, interoperability and supportability/sustainability. Furthermore, security is a high priority consideration throughout the structure. The architecture provides an overall technical framework within which the major commands and functional areas can build. It influences the life cycle of programs from requirement definition through operation. The architecture influences both long-term evolution and near-term acquisition. Use of the architecture helps rationalize the planning and acquisition process to ensure that validated minimum essential requirements are supported with integrated solutions using minimum cost, nondevelopmental solutions.
