Investigations have shown that the interaction between the regulators and the connecting pipework in a typical AGI installation can be reduced, leading to more stable designs, by the use of MIMO design methods. Practical limitations identified, in the more traditional methods, can be overcome using discrete-time methods. The resulting minimal controller structures being easily implemented in either a PC or commercial programmable controller.
