Eine hochintegrierte und Touchscreen-basierte Konsole wurde als das zentrale Bedienelement des "Innotrucks" entwickelt. Die Konsole, zusammen mit den innovativen Kugel-Sidesticks, ermöglicht eine intuitive und einfache Bedienung des weltweit ersten Drive-By-Wire hybrid LKWs. Der Fahrer wird durch die Priorisierung von allen fahrzeugbezogenen Nachrichten sowie einem aktiven Parkassistenten unterstützt. Eine weitere Integration von Fahrerassistenzsystemen ist vorgesehen und aktueller Entwicklungsgegenstand.

    A highly integrated and touchscreen-based console as a central control element for the "Innotruck" was developed. The console, together with the innovative sphere-sidesticks. enables an intuitive control over the world first drive-by-wire hybrid truck. The driver is supported through prioritizing the information feed on the one side, and a maneuver and parking assistance on the other. Integration of additional driver assistance systems is currently being researched and implemented. The process of selecting the optimal software platform for various HMI components provided valuable data for the next project phase. The choice between QT and HTML5 was affected by multiple factors: amount of manipulative actions performed by the user compared to amount of passive information presentation, complexity and necessity of low-level connection to underlying (prototypical) hardware, possibility of integration with other platforms in heterogeneous interface amalgamates and portability to other (personal) touchscreen-based platforms. The next practical step is the integration of a tablet-based central console, with both camera feeds shown on a single display. This will further improve the visibility from the cockpit and reduce the HMI integration complexity. After the drive, the tablet can be removed and used for other vehicle and infotainment functions in the back-end of the Innotruck. The connection to the data bus of the vehicle will be, according to current plans, over the WiFi wireless or (when docked) a classical wired USB connection.
