The European research project interactIVe takes the next step towards the goal of accident-free traffic. InteractIVe develops advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for safer driving that autonomously brake and steer. One part in interactIVe addresses collision avoidance by braking and steering. One Example for this is the function Rear End Collision Avoidance. This paper explains this function and describes it components including threat assessment and control concept. Finally test results are presented.
