Waseda's electric micro-bus (WEB) has been developed. The bus is featured by a non-contact inductive power supply (IPS) system to reduce the weight of the battery unit. The Nickel Sodium Chloride battery unit equipped in the bus was replaced with a Li-ion battery unit. On-road tests have demonstrated that the new battery unit can considerably improve the driving range and reduce recharging time in the favorable combination with the IPS system.
