This paper proposes a confident method for implementing seat occupancy recognition and classification including vitality monitoring in cars. A linear classifier has been developed which operates on certain features extracted from the range profiles of signal statistics. This system is able to operate in a moving car and is not sensitive to body movements of the passenger.
