Security is an issue for AUTOSAR because of - the dependency of safety and security and related new legal requirements in automotive; - future technology trends leading to a convergence of automotive electronics and PC or CE technology thus requiring more security; - security use cases (secure programming of ECUs, electronic immobilizer, electronic enabling of functions, secure diagnosis). Common security and cryptographic architecture in HIS are discussed in the paper concerning the following topics: security applications, common cryptographic module in HIS, history and timeline for cryptographic module in HIS and AUTOSAR. Security use cases and corresponding security applications are described. The AUTOSAR architecture is outlined in detail and the embedding of the crypto module in AUTOSAR is explained. The requriements on dynamic and compile time behavior are discussed.
