With increasing system complexity, the proper calibration of engine and transmission systems is becoming a key differentiator. Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier-1s are introducing new calibration methods to improve the efficiency of calibration tasks and are also front-loading calibration to earlier phases of the development to increase calibration quality. For all these new methods, the speed of the electronic control unit (ECU) calibration access is a key factor. Therefore ETAS GmbH developed together with AVL List GmbH and the BMW Group a new calibration solution, resulting in an up to 400 times faster calibration access compared to ASAM AE ASAP3 and ASAM AE MCD3.
