From 2010 'Vehicle Stability Function' (an electronic control function for a vehicle which improves the dynamic stability of the vehicle) for trucks and trailer is required by ECE 13/11. ECE 13/11 is the first regulation which enables the simulation as proper method. Regulation requirements for the simulation methods according ECE 13/11 are: 1. The simulation method shall take into account the main factors of directional and roll motion with following sub-system models; 2. The Vehicle Stability Function shall be added to the simulation model by means of SiL and HiL; 3. Simulation shall be carried out with trailer coupled to a representative towing vehicle; 4. Vehicle loading condition. The truck simulation is so complex because the variety of configurations needs a huge model library with important extensions. The extensions lead up to 90 DOF in comparison to 15 DOF for a single car. Real-time calculation needs an efficient software structure.
