Research for the purpose of this paper was funded by the Galileo Supervisory Authority as part of the GIANT programme. The purpose of this paper is to summarise the results of a study into EGNOS certification liabilities in the aviation domain. The full paper (Deliverable D.7.2.4) may be obtained from the Galileo Supervisory Authority after the end of the GIANT programme. The research considered EGNOS certification liabilities using the currently applicable framework, which is the Single European Sky Regulations, and focuses on the application of that law in two EC member States: a) France, as a major representative of civil law-countries, and b) The United Kingdom, as a major representative of common law-countries. The background to this paper1, describes the status and method of the EGNOS System Safety Case which provides the description of the certification process. This was used for the liability analysis in this paper.
