Creating a proper insulation package for sports cars means to take into account not only an effective reduction of noise, but also weight optimisation, most possible reduction of package volume and to apply a suitable filter function to create sound. For the new Porsche Carrera the task was to develop a lightweight trim package which offers a weight and a cost reduction at the same time. In this paper the definition of the sound package components is outlined. The following issues are discussed: sound deadening parts, carpet trim components, absorber parts, bypass noise bulkheads. An overview of the damping package of the new Porsche Carrera Coupe is given. The package consists of 34 parts, subdivided into carpet trim parts, fleece fillets, in plan fleece stamping parts, membrane area damping foils, sandwich foils and stiffeners, engine compartment absorbers. The share of very cheap parts was increased by more than 25 % and the total weight was dropped by more than 20 % or nearly 6 kg. A cost reduction of nearly 20 % for the package was gained.
