Hydrogen used as a clean fuel has many advantages when compared with hydrocarbon and nuclear fuels. The limitation in the use of hydrogen for power generation was connected with self-ignition and explosion risks. This problem has been lately solved by addition of special inhibitors. The new inhibitors were not published yet. The main disadvantage of use of hydrogen as a motor fuel consists in some difficulties in its storage in liquified state or as metal hydrides. This problem has been also solved by the Institute of Structural Macrokinetics of the Russian Academy of Science. As the sources of hydrogen, the production of chlorine, processing of petroleum and coal and metallurgy were taken into consideration under Russian conditions where hydrogen is a by-product to be utilized.
