The Kirchoff modulus was determined for 11.7 mm rods made of commercial 60SiCrV7 spring steel designed for spring suspension in automobile vehicles. The experimental data were higher by 3 % to 5 % than the standard ones. Hardness and metallographical structure of the steel were also examined. An increase in accuracy of numerical strength calculations for constructed springs (about 10 %) was achieved.
