Fatigue tests of surface treated (electrolytically polished or shot-peened) forged low-alloy steel, KSFA110 (NK standards, sigmaB = 1.080 MPa class), over 108 cycles of repeated stress were carried out to clarify fatigue property in the ultra-high-cycle regime. Two-fold S-N curves were observed and interior fracture occurred in the ultra-high-cycle regime irrespective of existence of residual stresses. Possibility of prediction of fatigue life in ultra-high-cycle regime using a crack propagation law was demonstrated assuming that crack propagation life is predominant in the fatigue life.
