The economy forces the OEMs to reduce their development periods. This requirement is subcontracted to the development partners and the suppliers. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the development time significantly. One possibility to meet this requirement is eliminating the prototype-phase in the development of the interior. This circumstance requires the release of components based on virtual data. As a result, an expressive numerical simulation is needed. Especially during the concept-phase virtual development offers many advantages. Finding new solutions and checking their applicability are the main challenges in a development process; consequently, virtual development methods are the most powerful tools to handle this situation now and in the future. With the background of saving several months of development time and costs together with the increased performance of numerical simulation, the use of virtual development methods as described above is very promising.
