In this paper, it is intended to show the analysis and calculation of the structure of a clean urban bus. The design is based on a power system that uses hydrogen or natural gas, and where the main storage capacitors are situated in the upper part of the structure of the bus. This new design is intended to be lighter, due to the rising weight introduced by the storage capacitors. The objective is therefore, to develop a new design able to reduce the maximum weight of the structure, within the limits permitted by the current legislation, and therefore to maintain the load capacity. Due to the position of the load on the upper part of the structure of the bus, the rest of the structure must be strong enough to bear all the stresses caused by this new distribution of loads. The analysis and calculation has been done by using a finite element code called ABAQUS/Standard. Several analyses regarding strength and stiffness were carried out from the main static models of load (flexural and torsion), sufficient to show the dynamic behaviour of the vehicle.
