The paper presents the contents, current status and conclusions, of recent research and development work on methods for modelling the vibro-acoustic radiation of noise from vehicle tyres. The predictive models of noise radiation use acoustic finite and infinite element methods, in the time domain, with structural time-domain calculations to define surface vibration boundary conditions. The tyre noise sources can also be analyzed using numerical acoustic holography techniques, together with possible validations, and purely-experimental analysis methods have also been used.
