some critical remarks are made concerning the assessment of glare. methods for precalculation of discomfort glare are established, partially based on recent research work. more research is needed, however, in order to give the borderline of acceptable and not-acceptable glare for different types of traffic route. a comparison is given between calculated glare ratings (expressed in glare mark g) and observation in existing roads.
