Electrical equipment in british warships has traditionally been divided into 'high-power' and 'low-power' categories, but the rate of progress of electronic devices has been such that the old barriers are being broken down. Among the latest electronic equipment designed for use in naval vessels are new speed controllers and voltage regulators at one end of the scale, and microelectronic telephone exchanges at the other.
