In the burning of high viscous low grade marine fuel oils, the bad stability and the impurities other than hydrocarbons have defect on combustion of low speed marine diesel engines. The increasing of sludge which is represented by the asphaltenes have many problems on diesel engines, that is, blockage of strainer, stoppage of fuel pump and injection system, obstacles of spray, and incombustibility. The other hand, the silicon particles contained in the fluid catalytic cracked bottom based oil remain in the burnt gases, and mix in the sliding surfaces between cylinder liner and piston rings, so called, it is abrasive wear, and the wear rate becomes large.
