Since this early beginning, meters and measurement instrumentation have been an important, integral element in every phase of gas industry operations. Various types of meters are used, each serving a definite purpose and meeting a specific requirement. This discussion will deal with positive displacement diaphragm meters. Diaphragm meters were one of the earliest means of measuring the commercial consumption of gas accurately and economically. It presently plays a vital role in meeting the needs of gas measurement, particularly at low flow rates, and will continue to be a viable measurement method in the future.
