This paper, describes the results of emissions tests on ten passenger cars operated on fuel blends containing methanol and ethanol. The purpose of the program was to determine the immediate exhaust emission and fuel economy changes due to use alcohol/gasoline blends under high 1973-1978 model years and were randomly selected from private owners in the Denver area. The test procedures used were the Federal Test Procedure (exhaust emissions only) and the Highway Fuel Economy Test. Fuel economy was measured and recorded using the carbon balance technique.
