The need for improved lubricants and hydraulic fluids capable of operating in the more severe environmental conditions has been inposed by the high speeds of future aerospace systems. This paper covers the development of a new class of additives capable of improving the high-temperature oxidation stability and corrosion inhibition of polyperfluoroalkylether fluids. These additives, which have the unique property of complete solutbility in the fluids, have demonstrated effectiveness in both the hexafluoropropylene oxide based and linear polyperfluoroalkylethers.
