This paper is concerned with identifying the painting robot's potential as it relates to the needs of a total spray painting system. This potential is based on the ability of the robot to work in a hostile environment and allowing the facility to operate using significantly less energy. The viability of the automatic system is dependent on defining and developing material controls and the configuration of a master or host computer control system.
