Systems for vehicle guidance, navigation or location can be based on a number of techniques. However in many cases the information that these systems generate would be more valuable if it could be communicated to a location remote from the vehicle. Indeed, communications facilities are and will be fitted to vehicles more commonly than navigation systems because of other benefits they bring. Almost any radiocommunication technique could be employed in this application and include amongst these is the use of satellites.
