MATE systems currently include only minimal capabilities for microwave frequencies. The ability to test Electronic Warfare (EW), radar, and communication systems would be greatly enhanced by the addition of RF test instrument 'core' to the MATE inventory. MATE microwave enhancement techniques and test modules were developed for the frequency range from 10 MHz to 26.5 GHz. The MATE software system was reviewed and determined the capabilities of microwave testing without extensions. The microwave extensions developed provide an innovative ATE concept tailorable to any situation for depot and intermediate levels of support. Specific applications for the expanded MATE capabilities are for advanced electronics systems in the area of radar, communications and EW. Refer to a Figure to show how this system could support military applications up to 110 GHz into the 1990's and beyond.
