A new compact and economical radar data processing system has been developed for medium or small scale terminal air traffic control. The system delivered to the Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) as the subsystem of a new fixed type Ground Controlled Approach (GCA), features excellent alphanumeric radar display presentation and various operational functions by a general purpose minicomputer. The CPU load is 40 % at most, including the function of refreshing three displays. Controllers' work load is considerably alleviated by radar data tagging over the blips, the forcecasting list according to the previously registered flight plans and a digitally generated map.
