A numerical curve fitting technique isd escribed based on chains ofci rcular arc and straight line segments. For portions of the curve which are not straight, two circular arcs are used between each pair of data points, and for this reason the term biarc has been applied to the resulting curves. This type of curve fitting was designed fort hes hipbuilding industry in 1970 and provides the basic curve and hull surface definition for the widely-used BRITSHIPS system.
