Abstract The increasing population of urban areas in the European Union creates new challenges in the areas of policing and planning urban transportation and urban mobility. Modern solutions based on ICT change the conditions of the urban transport system and residents’ expectations about the scope and quality of available transport solutions. Attention should also be paid to the growing awareness of the problems associated with the negative effects of transport on both the natural environment and society. The goal of this paper is to present possibilities of improving the efficiency of city transport infrastructure with the application of various ICT-based solutions. Solutions for both public and private transportation are considered.
