Ensuring safety in seaport navigation is of paramount importance for the protection of lives, accident prevention, and environmental preservation. This paper highlights the significance of regular training and qualification upgrades for port personnel, pilots, and mariners to enhance their knowledge and understanding of navigational safety procedures, local regulations, best ship handling practices, and situational awareness. It emphasizes the importance of realistic and up-to-date navigation simulations, as outdated data and inaccurate simulation results can lead to erroneous conclusions. The study focuses on the Klaipeda Seaport and explores its navigational challenges. It also delves into the development of a detailed simulation model using advanced tools and methodologies. The effectiveness of the simulator in training, qualification improvement, and research is showcased, underscoring its contribution to navigational safety and seaport development.
