Abstract

Extravehicular activity (EVA), which is commonly known as “spacewalking,” can undoubtedly be regarded as the quintessence of flying in space. In fact, the beauty of spacewalking and working in the void of space was best summarized by Edward H. White II on becoming the first American to step outside his spacecraft, when he said, “I feel like a million dollars.” Training for and conducting a spacewalk is one of the most popular assignments. It is also vital to the program. Without spacewalks, how else could the Hubble Space Telescope have been serviced or the International Space Station assembled?
