New lifestyle changes, featuring diversification, personalisation and convenience, put forward higher requirements for efficient, intelligent, green, diversified, comfortable and fair transport. Based on the interrelationship between lifestyles and transport development, this chapter proposes policy suggestions for four aspects of future transport development: enhancing quality of life, promoting transport equity, establishing a smart transport system for smarter life and developing new business forms in transport. Changes in travel demand caused by changes in lifestyle are becoming more and more obvious, and they are more and more worthy of the attention of policymakers, who need to formulate new transportation policies that adapt to and embrace changes. One of the changes is that in terms of total travel, with the acceleration of China’s urbanisation process and the diversification of lifestyles, the total demand for urban transportation is continuing to grow. This puts forward new requirements for the layout and structure of the city’s transportation system. The second change is that in the purpose of travel, the proportion of life travel will gradually increase. However, the purpose of life travel is different from other types of travel, and the focus of consideration in the choice of travel mode is also different. Therefore, to cope with this change, the development of future transportation tools should be more targeted. The third change is that residents have higher and higher requirements for efficiency and accuracy. Therefore, the development of smart cities and big data transportation is the general trend.
