This chapter focuses on the applications of Sliding Mode Control (SMC) in unmanned aerial vehicle applications. It considers small scale vehicles and its autopilot as a sliding mode controller. The needs of the reality are discussed and a simulation example is given to support the claims. It is seen that robustness property of sliding mode control is an important feature in applications subject to uncertainty and imprecision. Unmanned aerial vehicle applications therefore best suit the discussion of the versatility of sliding mode control technique.
