With the technology development of energy storage, Lithium-ion battery become more and more popular for its outstanding performance. Inspired by application of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in Second Hospital of Jilin University, we took out a conception of Li-ion battery based portable train starter to “save” the train in low battery malfunction. In order to make the starter portable, we made a feasible analysis on starting load of 5 typical types of passenger carriage which are operating in different scenario and carried out a solution of portable train starter based on Li-ion battery. As a new generation of backup auxiliary power supply technology, the portable train starter will provide a better guarantee for operation of rail transit vehicles.
